Would you like to be a Parish Councillor?
Following a resignation, there is now a vacancy on Farington Parish Council, Central Ward. The Parish Council is now able to co-opt a new member to fill that vacancy. If you like to be involved in your local community, then this is your opportunity to put yourself forward without the need to go through a formal election process.
If you are interested in this role or need any further information please contact Sue Whittam, Clerk to Farington Parish Council either via email: firstname.lastname@example.org or by telephone 0845 4631895. Any one who is interested in the vacancy is asked to submit some information, around 250 words about themselves and why they would like to become a Parish Councillor. This should ideally include your work experience, the length of time you have lived in or had connections with the area, any existing local memberships and a brief outline of any skills that you might be able to bring to the Council. This information needs to be submitted to the Clerk by Monday 1 February 2021 and the information you provide will be circulated to the Parish Council.
You will also need to attend the next Parish Council meeting on Monday 8 February at 7.00pm. Due to the current Covid restrictions this meeting is being held remotely by zoom. The Clerk will send the details to you once you have submitted your statement about yourself. At the meeting the Parish Council will ask you to give a brief verbal presentation about yourself, lasting for a maximum of three minutes, followed by any questions. There will also be an opportunity for you to also ask any further questions about the role.
We hope you will consider joining us, as being a Parish Councillor is a rewarding and important role.
