Clerk to the Council – Sue Whittam

Hello, my name is Sue Whittam and I am the Clerk to Farington Parish Council. This means that I am responsible for all the legal and financial matters relating to the Council. I have been the Clerk for the last ten years, and it is a job that I enjoy very much. I work part-time and from home so I can juggle my busy work and home life.

I am married to Steve and we have two children, a dog and a rabbit. Although I don’t live in the Parish, I am fully committed to providing the best facilities for the benefit of the local people. It is good to see that the Parish Council makes a real difference to the area.

Councillor Mike Otter

In our spare time we enjoy going to Car Boot Sales and Collectors Fairs and enjoy playing snooker.  I am pleased to serve as Parish Councillorand will try to do my best for the people of Farington.

Councillor Roy Clarke – Chairman

Born Hornchuch Essex 1936, evacuated to Lancashire in 1940. Educated in Manchester and Southampton. His working career was spent between Merchant Navy, Electronic components Sales Manager, Hotel and Public House owner and self employed in electronics.

Elected to Lanaster City Council in 1990’s, resigning to move to Scotland. Moved back to Lancashire, from North of Scotland, in 2009. Interests: Model Railways (ever since I could spell puffer train), Canal boating, renovation of my narrow boat is ongoing.

Councillor Alan Pearmain

Alan has been a Parish Councillor for over four years. He feels that if you don’t contribute yourself…. you have no right to criticise others.

Not a local man, Alan retired some six years ago, after a career in the military and working offshore in the oil industry, and has since then completed a politics degree at UCLAN. He and his wife, Ann, moved to Farington for the sake of the cats, finding a house in a safe cul-de-sac! Their secondary reason was for  Ann to be closer to her family in Lytham and Liverpool. Both Alan & Ann are Conservative Party activists. He keeps fit by refereeing in the local football leagues and volunteers as a ‘simulated patient’ at Preston hospital. He would urge all Farington residents to attend one Parish meeting; come along to complain, offer advice or just to observe…… You would like what you see.

Alan represents Farington Parish on the Hutton Church of England Grammar School Foundation.
